Wabash Blogs Wes Smith '11

Hello gentlemen of Wabash,

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Wesley Smith . . . Wes is fine . . . And I am a sophomore here at Wabash College.  Me, the wonderful sports information director here at Wabash (shout outs to Brent Harris), along with the help from Mr. Hewitt, have started a new blog, allowing you to get into the daily life of me . . . Wes Smith.  Things should begin to pick up a little bit from now on, as we all can feel the weather is starting to change (allergies too), and people are forced to spend most of their times indoors (can you hear the basketballs bouncing and the gym shoes squeaking!).

Just a little more about my self . . . I was originally born in Virginia Beach, VA. and was brought up in and around Indianapolis, In.  I went to THE Lawrence North H.S. home of THE wildcats where we were the 3-time back - to back - to back state champions (a feat only accomplished by two other high schools might I add).  I was gradually drawn on to Wabash College out of high school and have seemed to have made this my home away from home for the next 3 years (grrrrreeat!) . . .  It’s all good though.  For those of you who don't know, I play basketball here at Wabash, and am a proud and active member of the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies. I plan on majoring in English with a minor in Spanish and look to head into the forensics field of study (some CSI type stuff) and am also looking to study abroad (don’t tell coach Petty yet, I'm not that sure . . . yet).  I have a wonderful dad and stepmom back at home, and an older sister and brother who are out on their own now.  Love them all!I think that covers it all!

As I sit in my room and as I'm about to go to sleep, I sit back and reflect on my day.  Basketball in the fall in winding down, thank God, (the whole team is tired of beating up on each other).  Please come out and support us this year everyone! We are really . . .  really on the uprising and are looking to make big moves as a team, (can someone say NCAA birth?).  The Cubs lost! I'm still trying to find out what happened to Dempster!?!?! Chapel sing is tomorrow (10/2), look out for the Beta Boys, (you know who you are) and especially my good friend Aaron Zinnerman (we gotcha AZ). And my friend Greg Oden sprained his ankle in practice . . . let’s see if he can get on the floor this season for just one minute! (Come on G!)

That'll be all folks! I look forward to reading some of your comments! Sure! . . . . Write me anything! Except on those lonely rare nights when we MIGHT loose a game this year, and I will be happy to write back!

Until next time Crawfordsville!

-Wes Smith

I am so very proud of my younger brother it brings tears to my eyes. He has accomplished so much and continues to strive for the best that he can...he truly makes the SMITH clan very excited! It amazes me that he is getting so old i can just remember when he was the squeaky voice little brother who would try anything in his power to get his way whether he was right or wrong. he is a true blessing to our family and we love him dearly...continue to strive for excellence and work hard.
I love you WES!!!
P.S. Let the readers know about your Spanish speaking ability...he is fluent! :)
